11th International Symposium on Reproductive Physiology of Fish (ISRPF – 2018)

International experts to discuss fish reproduction in Manaus

In its first edition in Latin America, the International Symposium on the Physiology of Fish Reproduction will gather in Manaus from June 3 to 8, the greatest experts from around the world to discuss the most recent scientific discoveries in the area. The event will be held at the Tropical Hotel, in the West Zone of the capital, and is open registration on the website: www.isrpf2018.com.br.

Among the confirmed speakers are international reference researchers such as Olivier Kah of the National Center for Scientific Research in France; Wei Ge, from the University of Macau, China; Goro Yoshizaki, from the Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, Japan; and Graham Young of the University of Washington in the United States.

It will also have the participation of Brazilian experts, among them, the researcher of the Emílio Goeldi Museum, Ronaldo Borges Barthem, and the professor of the Biological Sciences Institute of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Samyra Maria dos Santos Nassif Lacerda.

“Researchers from the North Region, especially from Amazonas, will have a unique opportunity to interact with the world scientific community”, emphasizes Luiz Renato de França, director of the National Research Institute of the Amazon (Inpa / MCTIC) .

The International Symposium on the Physiology of Fish Reproduction takes place every four years since its inception in 1977. Previous editions have been conducted in Europe, North America and Asia.

In Manaus, 300 to 400 participants are expected. The theme will be “New frontiers in reproductive diversity in a changing environment”, in reference to the great diversity shown by South American species and the consequences of human activities leading to environmental changes, such as global warming.

Those interested in submitting papers have until February 12 to submit abstracts. Instructions are available on the event’s website and based on scientific merit part of the abstracts will be selected for oral presentation.

The symposium will be held in partnership with the National Institute of Amazonian Research, Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Nilton Lins University, Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation – Western Amazonia (Embrapa), Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), Paulista State University (UNESP / Botucatu), University of São Paulo (USP) and Aquaculture Center of UNESP (CAUNESP / Jaboticabal). And it already has the valuable official financial support of CNPq, CAPES and FAPEAM.
